Sustained Investigation: Printmaking

My sustained investigation is about a collection of androgynous figures and their hardships with a series
of mental health issues: gender dysphoria, dissociation, and addiction. Their experiences represent the
difficulties I live through as a trans person. Many of the figures are melting from pain, and they are
warped because they want to change themselves. However, their desire to change is powerless as the
situation is forced upon them.

My inquiry is experimented with storytelling through printmaking featuring bright colors and intricate
lines. During the process, multiple color combinations were tested. Eventually, the blue and pink pair
was chosen because of the strong contrast between the two colors along with their long history relating
to gender.
